drivers & Patients

Recently we had a little get together in the office some of our office staff , board members, drivers and service users. This allowed us to have a discussion on how we can improve the service that we provide. Here is a few quotes from some of the drivers and service users in attendance-

Cathy Niven, Cumbernauld Patient

“When I realised that I was able to use this service it gave me a great peace of mind. I have found the service first class, everything is very well organised. Every driver I have had has been polite, patient and helpful, even when appointments have been running later- sometimes by over an hour. I want to say a big thank you to everyone involved, you are all doing a wonderful job. We all appreciate it.”

James Frew, Larkhall Patient

“Using Lanarkshire Cancer Care Trust during my treatment was a huge weight lifted off my shoulders. I never had to rely on any form of public transport as I was picked up from my door and dropped back home. The service was excellent and all the drivers were very friendly.”

Myra Black, Motherwell Driver- Driver since April 2003

“I became a driver from Lanarkshire Cancer Care Trust when I retired. I was looking for something to fill my time and one of my friends passed me the details. I didn’t think it was something that I could do but I joined and have never looked back since. I have really enjoyed my time with the Trust and have made a lot of lifelong friends, both patients and drivers.”

Robert Struthers, Carnwath Driver-Driver since July 2001

“One of the reasons I got involved with Lanarkshire Cancer Care Trust was because I had watched family member battle cancer and I wanted to give something back. During my years with the Trust there has been some sad occasions, however these are outweighed by the happy occasions I have shared with some of the patients. I get a great deal of satisfaction from being a volunteer driver and this is the reason I have continued to be part of the service for so many years
